The City of Manchester Stadium also known as Eastlands or the Etihad Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is the current home of Manchester City Football Club. Originally built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games at a cost of £110 million, the City of Manchester Stadium has a current capacity of 47726 this was increased from the original stadium capacity before Manchester City moved into the stadium at an extra cost of £30 million. The City of Manchester Stadium currently has the widest pitch in English football and well as the tallest floodlights in England.
The stadium is currently owned by Manchester City Council and as of March 2010 the Council have allowed redevelopment of land around the stadium and possible stadium expansion to 60,000.
